Glamping is just what you would imagine it to be……glamorous camping! For those camping purists, just the thought of the juxtapositioning of those two words hurt your ears. Others of you however, who love the idea of camping, but the actual thought of sleeping outside makes you nauseous, this is exactly the kind of camping you have been dreaming of. Urbandictionary.com defines glamping as this: “Glamorous camping is satisfying your craving for the outdoors and your penchant for a good meal, nice glass of wine, and a comfortable bed.” According to High Country News there are officially three different types of glamping, Ultra-Glamp, Semi-Glamp and Minimalist-Glamp. Ultra-Glamp is the fanciest form of glamping. These campers have money to spare. With packages for a night hitting well over $1000 this is barely camping in the traditional sense. The tents usually have bathrooms and chefs! Semi-Glamp is a step down from Ultra-Glamp. Semi-Glampers want a little more of the “camping” feeling. There are two ways to enjoy this type of camping. One option is to sleep in a tent but have chef cooked meals, another option is to sleep in more luxurious accommodations (think tree houses) but eat over a fire. This could be considered the best of both worlds option. Minimalist Glampers like roughing it quite a bit but prefer to have a more luxurious tent. There are camping sites set up now where you can rent a luxury tent for around $100 a night. We would love to hear what you think about glamping! Are you a purist camper or could you see yourself fitting into one of the three categories?
